Hi Starry! Let’s revise how to write the expanded form of two digit numbers.

Look at the two digit numbers. Let’s see how quickly write the expanded form.

                   

The expanded form 57 is 50 + 7, 
the expanded form of 29 is 20 + 9,

the expanded form of 86 is 80 + 6,
 the expanded form of 34 is 30 + 4.

Now let’s learn how to expand a three digit number ,expanded form of three digit number.

Let’s take the number 418, 4 is in the hundred place, so its place value is 400,

1 is the tens place, so its place value is 10, 8 is the units place, so its place value is 8.

So the expanded form 418 is 400 + 10 + 8.

Let’s take another number 707.

7 is in the hundred place, so its place value is 700,
 0 is in the tens place, so its place value is 0, 
7 is in the unit place, so its place value is 7.

So the expanded form 707 is 700 + 0 + 7.

Now Starry, look at the expanded form of some numbers.

The expanded form of 455 is 400 + 50 + 5.

The expanded form of 800 is 800 + 0 + 0.
The expanded form of 333 is 300 + 30 + 3.

Let’s do an activity.
Write the expanded form of the given numbers.  

The expanded form of 564 is 500 + 60 + 4.
