Starry, I have got 3 boxes of laddoos from the sweet shop.

Each box has 4 laddoos. So how many laddoos have we got altogether?

No not Starry, we can not open the boxes now and count.

Umm, 4 laddoos each have been put into 3 boxes.

So 4 taking 3 times. Why don’t we do multiplication Starry?

Yes, let multiplied 4 by 3.   

Now which is the easiest method of finding out this answer Starry?

Yes, by using the multiplication table.

So using the table of 4, we get four threes are 12 .
So altogether , we have got 12 laddoos.

Wasn't it easy to multiply using the multiplication tables.

Then let's revise the tables we have learnt and then solve some example.

Table of 2.

2x1 are 2, 2x 2 are 4m 2 x3 are 6, 2x 4 are 8, 2 x5 are 10, 2 x6 are 12, 2 x7 are14, 2x 8 are 16, 2x 9 are 18, 2x 10 are 20.

Table of 3.

3x1 are 3, 3x2 are 6, 3x3 are 9, 3x4 are 12, 3x5 are 15, 3x6 are 18, 3x7 are 21, 3x8 are 24, 3x9 are 27, 3x10 are 30.

Table of 4.

4x1 are 4, 4x2 are 8, 4x3 are 12, 4x4 are 16, 4x5 are 29, 4x6 are 24, 4x7 are 28, 4x8 are 32, 4x9 are 36, 4x10 are 40.

Table of 5.

5x1 are 5, 5x2 are 10, 5x3 are 15, 5x4 are 20, 5x5 are 25, 5x6 are 30, 5x7 are 35, 5x8 are 40, 5x9 are 45, 5x10 are 50.

Table of 10,

10x1 are 10, 10x2 are 20, 10x3 are 30, 10x4 are 40, 10x5 are 50, 10x6 are 60, 10x7 are 70, 10x8 are 80, 10x9 are 90, 10x10 are 100.

Now we shall solve a few examples using the multiplication tables.

Solve the given multiplication.

First , one is 3 multiply by 7, we can use the 3 times table solving this., 3x7 are 21.

The next example is 5 multiplied by 9. Can you answer Starry?

Yes, 5 multiplied by 9 means 5x9 are 45, so the answer is 45.

The next example is written vertically.

Let solve 4 multiplied by 3. What table shall we use Starry?

Yes, 4 times table, 4x3 are 12. So, 4 multiplied by 3 is 12.

The next one is 2 multiplied by 7.

Yes, using the 2 times table, we get 2x7 are 14. So, 2 multiplied by 7 is 14.

How much is 10 times 4 Starry?

Yes, using the 10 times table, we get 10 fours are 40. So 10 times 4 is 40.

yes  5 x 3 = 15.
